when you're spending your Sunday at the Franco-German garden you should definitely stop and have a break. I can't tell how that coffee was like but you can get really good food there!

the way to the city

that's what you see when you walk to the city. I took that in the evening so there are just a few cars. All the day there is much traffic. Unterneath the street there is the highway and the river Saar. The bridge is called "Wilhelm-Heinrich bridge".

like in jail

kids painted themselves at the walls of their elementary school. The road works in front of the school make the artwork look loke kids in prison.

graveyard in Malstatt

Malstatt is a borough of Saarbrücken and it has, like every other borough) its own little graveyard. This one is so small that there are just 2 or 3 paths and just a few old graves but it's nice anyways.

another school photograph

another photograph of inside the school building I spend my days in. It shows the 3rd floor, I took that photo while coming up the main stairway. Looks pretty dirty and broken. Do the schools in your city look the same?

high-rise flats

a high-rise flat building. There are many buildings like this one (I wasn't able to get a whole house on the photograph) together. They're called "Folsterhöhe". It's like a little town there with a school and some stores between the houses.

the disappointed tree

it's just one of many trees at the franco-german garden. I have the habit to give things which are meaningful to me or which look a special way names so I call that tree always the disappointed tree because he looks so sad, just as he had some sour experiences in his life.

at school

to show you not every day a boring photo of another street I decided to post a photo of inside my school today.

I'm still going to school (13th grade). Here in Germany our school system is a little confusing to explain (to me) but maybe this link will tell you a little. My school is pretty dirty and most of the things inside are very old and some things are even broken but I think it has some charm anyway. On the photo you see the main stairway of the small building.

park bench

this bench is located at franco-german garden. I love to come there and to sit here sometimes because it's a little abroad the main path and most of the time there isn't anybody. It's a lovely peace of earth and my favorite place at franco-german garden!
As you can see on the photo we still have a little bit of snow on some parts on the ground :)

snow!

It started snowing yesterday evening but it took some time until I looked out of my window. It was long after sunset and so it was already very dark outside and for that reason I decided to take a photo with the flash while standing on the balcony. The illuminated snow looks pretty cool =)

Theme Day: What your city is known for

"When people think of my city, they think of . . ."
I asked friends and family and most peoples first thought of the city is the river called Saar, the many bridges (the name of Saarbrücken consists of the name of the river Saar and the word bridges (in German "Brücken") and the "skyline" of Saarbrücken. When standing at the castle wall you have a great view. The most popular bridge is the "old bridge" which you can see in the front, the big street is the "stadtautobahn", a highway through the city.
