There are many people, mostly youths, who spray the last numbers of their place's postal code they live in on walls, houses or signs. It seems a popular thing among youths to show off where they belong to and sometimes they start to "battle" people from another postal code area. "117" belongs to Old-Saarbrücken, where I found this street sign and the smearing on it.

"postal code fight"

Very interesting. How many codes for Saarbrucken are there? Does this happen elsewhere in Germany?
there are 16 different postal codes for Saarbrücken. I don't know if this happens elsewhere in Germany, Saarbrücken is the only city I saw this so far.
