Theme Day: Numbers

Those strange signs can be found everywhere in German cities. They are for e.g. firefighters because there are important informations about the street and there is written where the next hydrant (or other water sources) are located.

There are 181 blogs participating the May theme day. Please check them out, too!

Interesting post! I would never have figured out what those signs were.

These signs are a good idea!

We have similar signs on our streets too. The fire hydrant ones are usually yellow.

Important information there.
good choice

je ne connaissais pas ce type de panneau, c'est une superbe idée pour le thème du mois

I did not know this type of panel, it's a great idea for the theme of the month

Good selection for the theme, LD. Colorful, interesting and different.

That's fascinating. Had no idea such signs, with numbers, existed for firefighters. Great choice for today.

Halcyon said...

Interesting. Would not have known what they meant! Thanks for sharing.

Ineke said...

haha, seen these signs a billion times but never realised what they were for. Thanks for sharing!

Your firefighters must be very confused then! The photo's a nice publicity for your utility companies :)

Yellow signs we have, similar but not the same. Interesting idea for the numbers theme.

Ja, typisch für uns, aber dann gleich vier davon. Moment, das eine muss ich mal gerade rücken ;-))

Very interesting idea for the theme and nice back story.

LD, I really like the light and composition of your photograph of these hydrant directions. And if you hadn't told us what these were, I'd have lived with a beautiful mystery.

Thanks for telling me about the similar blue building marked with 63 in Saarbrucken. I love when things like that come to our attention, thousands of miles apart.
Happy May Day!

I had no idea what those numbers meant....thanks for explaining it....not as simple as a fire hydrant!

I never would have guessed what those numbers are for!

I live in the country (Ontario, Canada) where we have special rectangular signs, white printed on green. But hey! I never even thought to use them today!

Lady Demeter said...

yes, it seems as we need such signs because we don't have hydrants standing on the streets like they in e.g. the United States do. We have hydrants, too, of course but they're beneath small covers. I guess that in the case of an emergency (like a burning home) they don't have to look for the covers on the street.

Ken said...

No signs like that. Our fire hydrants are usually painted bright red so they're hard to miss.

Cool I would have never know.
